Topshop supports International Women’s Day
Following on from the success of Topshop’s charity jumble sale with Terrence Higgins Trust last Christmas, Topshop have donned their charity hat again, this time joining forces with domestic violence charities Refuge and Women’s Aid. A host of activity kicked off on International Women’s Day, 8th March, when Topshop celebrated women’s achievements whilst raising awareness of the abuse women and children face in their own homes.
Topshop hosted a ‘Pamper Yourself’ day offering massages, manicures and beauty treatments in selected stores with 10% of all sales donated to Women’s Aid and Refuge. In addition, Topshop is selling three friendship bracelets designed by jewellery concession Freedom.
Each bracelet is adorned with individual charms and trinkets with a white ribbon, the international symbol for the campaign to end violence against women, incorporated into each design. Priced at £5 with £3 going to Women’s Aid and Refuge the bracelets went on sale to coincide with International Women’s Day and are available in all Topshop stores and on the Topshop website (http://www.topshop.co.uk).
Sandra Horley, OBE, Chief Executive of Refuge and Nicola Harwin, CBE, Director of Women’s Aid said: "Domestic violence is a major social issue – it kills two women a week in England and Wales, it affects women of all ages and backgrounds. With Topshop’s support we will be able to reach out to many more women in need of our support and raise awareness of domestic violence and its impact on women and children."
