Have you experienced domestic violence? Has Refuge supported you?
One woman in four will experience some form of domestic violence during her life. But many women simply dont realise that what they are living with is domestic violence, that is a crime and that help is available. Too many are afraid to speak out.
By sharing your story you can help us reach out to these women. To tell them that they are not alone, that the abuse if not their fault and that Refuge can help them rebuild their lives.
We regularly work with newspapers, magazines and daytime TV programmes such as GMTV and This Morning to promote Refuge’s work and are always looking for women who would be able to share their own personal experience of domestic violence.
You wont have to be identified and if you request anonymity, we will work with you to ensure that your identity is protected. If you have been successful in obtaining a criminal conviction against your abuser, you can tell your story and by being photographed or appearing on TV you can help us tell others that there is nothing to be ashamed of and that the violence is not their fault. It will also help people understand that domestic violence is a serious crime which must not be tolerated.
If you would like to hear more about how we work with women who want to share their story please get in touch. We would be happy to answer any of your questions.
