Salary: c. £30,000 per annum
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly motivated, dynamic team to develop high-quality services for victims of domestic violence. As Development Officer you will be responsible for researching, applying for and securing funding to enable Refuge to develop and expand its range of support services for victims of domestic violence.

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge for victims of domestic violence in London in 1971 and we are now the country’s largest specialist provider of domestic violence services and the leading voice in the campaign to end domestic abuse. Refuge’s services include: safe emergency accommodation, community-based outreach services, independent domestic and sexual violence advocacy services, culturally-specific services and the Freephone 24-hour National Domestic Violence Helpline, run in partnership with Women’s Aid. On any given day Refuge supports over 1,600 women and children in our services.
The Development team is responsible for: retaining Refuge’s existing network of services; researching opportunities to open new services; designing new, high-quality services that meet the needs of communities and victims of abuse; and securing sufficient funding to deliver them to the highest standards.
About you
The successful candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills and a proven track record of writing high-quality funding applications and of securing income for projects.
You will have strong organisational skills and be keen to pro-actively seek new opportunities to help Refuge to grow and improve as an organisation. You will take a flexible and enthusiastic approach to learning about all aspects of Refuge’s work in order to expand and improve our services for victims of abuse.
Reporting to the Development Manager and working closely with the Head of Development and a second Development Officer you will also work closely with Refuge’s Operations, Finance, Fundraising and Communications teams in addition to external customers, including funders and partner agencies.
