Refuge is the largest specialist service provider of domestic violence services in the country. It opened the world’s very first refuge in London in 1971 and celebrates its 40th birthday in 2011. On any given day Refuge is supporting over 1,600 women and children. It also runs the Freephone 24-hour National Domestic Violence Helpline in partnership with Women’s Aid.

This post involves delivering a professional service to abused women and children living in our refuges, including providing practical and emotional support.

You will have evidence of strong casework management skills, good written and verbal communication, and an understanding of the importance of maintaining clear professional boundaries. It is essential you have direct experience of providing support to women and an understanding of current welfare rights/civil/criminal legislation relating to domestic violence.

You will be required to work as part of an on-call rota.
