Picturehouse and Refuge partnership

From April 19th 2019 onwards, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Picturehouse – the leading cinema chain with 25 sites across the UK – as it joins us in working together to end violence against women and girls.

Christmas 2018, Picturehouse staff first pledged their support by donating 700 cinema tickets to women and children accessing our services. Now the leading cinema chain has pledged to raise £50,000 to support our services by Christmas 2019. To maximise this unique partnership and help Refuge reach abused women in need of support, together with leading advertising agency BBH, a powerful short 60 second film has been created which will run throughout the year within the trailer reels of their various cinemas.

Hide and Seek Film

To launch the campaign Picturehouse will run a powerful 60 second short film – called Hide and Seek – across its cinemas nationwide to shine a light on this shocking issue and raise awareness of the life-saving and life-changing support Refuge provides. Created by creative agency BBH and directed by Lucy Bridger, ‘Hide and Seek’ highlights the fact that 90% of domestic abuse which takes place in a family home is witnessed and experienced by children.

At any till point at Picturehouse you can round up purchases to the nearest pound with the difference donated directly to Refuge. You can also choose to donate any amount directly to Refuge across Picturehouse tillpoints by cash or card.

Promotional Offers on Food & Beverage Items

Throughout the year you can treat yourself and your friends whilst raising valuable funds. From Spring, Picturehouse will donate £1 – 100% of the selling price – from bags of Galaxy Wafer Curls sold in all their cinemas nationwide, with a various offers throughout the year including tea and confectionery.

Fundraising Events

Picturehouse has appointed Refuge champions in every cinema who will be coming up with creative ways and events to raise funds throughout the year. Keep an eye out in your local cinema’s website and social pages for further details.
